The Glam Guide by Fleur De Force

Hey everyone :)

Got another book review for you :)

I think I've said this on every post involving books but I've loved reading books since a very young age and I often reminisce of the times I'd go to the local council library and take out 12 books on my loan card and run home and then read them all.

So I have had this book for some time now - I just haven't gotten round to writing the review about it. But the time has come ... it's sitting gathering dust and that annoys me. Note to self: buy a bookcase!

Fleur is a fashion and beauty vlogger on YouTube and also writes her own blog. She recently released this amazing book and I decided to buy it and check it out for myself. Around the time I bought it she was also doing signings in Milton Keynes - but I was too chicken and shy to even consider getting a ticket lol.

Firstly I'll say that the artwork is stunning - out of all the YouTuber books I've bought to read - hers is the most colourful. It makes you want to pick it up and flick through it - there are water-colours, swatches dotted around the corners of the book, hand-drawn artwork surrounded by her words - it really is amazing!

So my main reason for buying the book was to support Fleur - I don't in anyway think I'm in her league (meaning she's very successful and has thousands/hundreds probably nearly millions now of followers and I have a couple hundred) but I'm a strong believer in supporting other vloggers and bloggers.

Secondly - it's a good excuse to review the book and do a post on my blog! Okay maybe that's a bad excuse but still ... at least you get to read my thoughts on her book.

As the name of the book suggests - it's a guide on a wide variety of topics such as beauty, hair, fashion, youtube, blogging, health & fitness and lots more.

Fleur goes into detail on each of the topics and gives her thoughts, ideas, tips and tricks on how to avoid those bad days.

As I mentioned above throughout the book the pages are awash with water-colours - it actually reminds me of accidentally spilling coloured water from when you were painting and you needed to wash your brush. There is also detailed artwork of different pieces of clothing and hair styles.

I would say that the book is more targeted towards teenage girls (but when has that stopped me buying a book - remember Zoella's book). I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that - I've already justified (above) my reasons for buying the book - I full well knew it was aimed at younger girls.

That aside I still did manage to find a chapter I thoroughly enjoyed - JUICES & SMOOTHIES! I do love a good fruit drink - and it was one of my favourite sections in the book. My favourite had to be the 'more than a mojito' which contains apple, cucumber, lime and mint leaves - it really tastes amazing! The smoothies were really good too and if I had to choose a favourite I'd go with the 'peanut power' which had banana, milk, peanut butter, flaxseed and ice. I mean peanut butter, banana and milk ... what's not to like?!

Moving onto food - Fleur then gives us some lovely breakfast and lunch ideas - I'll be honest I've not tried them all yet but they are good recipes and well worth it! So easy to make too and it's all with things you already have in your cupboard.

The majority of the book covers beauty and fashion - so Fleur discusses 'how to find the best concealer' or 'how to grow your hair or 'how to choose a dress that flatters your body' and goes into deep, deep detail on it and adds her experience and thoughts into the mix too.

I won't go into too much detail as I don't want to bore you or put you off buying the book because I've basically told you all the contents! << I have a bad habit of that!

All in all (summing up I am) << guess the reference! A great book and would recommend to any teenage girl looking for some advice or guidance. Very colourful and full of life!
