Nakd Raw Fruit & Nut Bars

Hey everyone :)

So something that has been catching my eye for some time now was Nakd (the company, not being unclothed) oh haha - did you see my joke there? You're not laughing ... neither am I ... it was a bad joke ...

Anyone that reads my blog or watches my vlogs will know that I work for a logistics company whom supply all ambient and chilled items to Starbucks stores across the UK. (I don't know if I'm actually allowed to say that on here as they do have a strict social media policy). Now I can't really specify how Nakd came to my attention (because then I probably will get in trouble) but it was because of my work that I got looking at their products and what they do/stand for.

So Nakd & Trek bars are minimal - in the sense that their ingredients list is so small that when you taste them you wouldn't believe they actually taste that good. This is compared to other brands whose ingredients lists is about 10 times the size.

All their bars are dairy, gluten and wheat free so that targets audiences that normally can't eat cereal bars and the like because of their intolerance. Now I luckily don't have any intolerances but I'm always trying to 'eat healthy' and thought it was high time I get my hands on some of these bars.

If you want to read a more detailed 'about us' you can click HERE. I just didn't want this to be a long post and bore you to death.

So off to Asda I went and I came back with one of their mixed boxes - you get 4 bars and it cost me£2.50.

So there are four different bars and a different flavour. Pictured above is Rhubarb & Custard, Cocoa Orange, Cocoa Delight and Berry Delight.

I'm just going to go through each one and talk about them. Similar to other posts I've done Dave and I both tried them and gave thoughts on them which I'll pop below.

Berry Delight

The Berry Delight contains:

> 49% dates
> 31% cashews
> 17% raisins
> 3% raspberries
> some natural flavouring

First of all the smell reminded us both of raspberry picking in the Summer, you can tell the bar definitely has raspberries in it. The taste reminded me of molasses (a type of dark brown sugar) - I think that might have been the dates. The bar was very sweet so I probably wouldn't be able to eat 10 of them in one sitting.

Rhubarb & Custard

The Rhubarb and Custard contains:

> 55% dates
> 25% cashews
> 19% raisins
> some natural flavouring

Firstly when you open this bar - it reminds you straight away of the rhubarb and custard sweets you got as a kid (that shows my age - I'm only 24).  So the smell is amazing. We also thought it tasted exactly like you were sucking on the sweet too which is great!

Cocoa Orange

The Cocoa Orange contains:

> 40% dates
> 40% cashews
> 14% raisins
> 5% cocoa
> some natural flavouring

This bar reminded us of the chocolate orange chocolates you get at Christmas (also reminded me of that Dawn French advert (the woman from Vicar of Dibley) and that it wasn't Terry's it was hers) lol. It's very chocolatey too what with only 5% cocoa in it. We did think it was a bit chewier that the last two we just tried (Berry Delight and Rhubarb & Custard). Still enjoyable none the less.

Cocoa Delight

The Cocoa Delight contains:

> 48% dates
> 19% cashews
> 17% raisins
> 6% cocoa
> some natural flavouring

With only a 1% difference in cocoa quantity (5% in the cocoa orange) we thought this was much stronger than the cocoa orange bar. I think possibly the orange masked the cocoa flavouring in the last bar. It still was rather tasty and I like chocolatey bars!

So I really enjoyed taste-testing these four bars! If I'm honest - three things I've not really been a fan off - dates, raisins and cashews - and what are the main ingredients in all of these - those 3 things! On their own I would never eat these 3 ingredients but in these bars with flavouring - they are lovely and I definitely will be buying these again :)

Have you ever tried any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Be sure to check out their website HERE - you can buy all of their products from it.
