Gaming: Minecraft Books

Hey everyone :)

So if you read my last gaming post or you have been following me from the beginning then you will know that I'm a bit of a gamer. Currently at the moment I am (still) playing Minecraft and I have been constantly playing Destiny.

I remember when I was studying for my nursing degree they told us that the job was ever-learning and that you would never finishing learning because new procedures and new processes are created everyday. I love learning new things whether its from other YouTube videos or books or the internet so when these books came out I jumped at the chance to buy them.

I managed to get them form Amazon on pre-order so they were slightly cheaper than what I've saw in shops. There are four different books they have released so far (after some research I can't see that they will release anymore, unless new features or things get added to Minecraft).

So firstly we have:

Minecraft: The Official Beginner's Handbook

Obviously you can tell by the name of the book - that it's a first-timer guide book. It's really helpful and explains what you need to do on your first night and what you need to get/find. The book is very colourful, full of pictures and recipe guides so if you can get stuck you can refer to the book. Some people think its cheating a little as you should figure it out on your own. But I can tell from past experience that you need as much help as you can get on your first night ... after that you can figure it out for yourself.

You can find the book on Amazon HERE - as I said I got it for £5 exactly, I know Tesco are doing it for £7.99, but currently on Amazon the hardback edition is going for £3.85

The second book we have is:

Minecraft: The Official Combat Handbook

This book helped me lots - as for me I primarily loved Minecraft for the building and construction side of things, I wasn't too interested in the combat/fighting - however when your faced with a skeleton chasing you in a mineshaft you need to be ready. So this book gives stats on all mobs in the game and how best to kill them. There's information on how to create potions and how to enchant your armour and weapons. It's a must read if you want to go to servers where fighting games are big (such games like levels, walls etc)

As above the book is going for the same price as the Beginner's Handbook - you can check it on Amazon HERE.

Third book is:

Minecraft: The Official Construction Handbook

As I said above I joined Minecraft for the construction/building aspect so this book was really interesting for me. I wouldn't say this book was a guide, but more of a showcase of other people's work in the community. Some things that people have built are truly amazing! It's crazy to see what people have built - as you know it would probably have taken them forever to build it and perfect it.
There are some guides on how to build simple houses or walls to keep people out which is interesting. I've tried the house guide and it worked out well however I changed a few things afterwards.

This book can be found on Amazon HERE.

Lastly this book is my favourite:

Minecraft: The Official Redstone Handbook

Now I would say out of all four - this book was the most helpful to me. Because within Minecraft there is Redstone and it's a very complicated feature which takes time to learn. However this book (how do I say it in a nice way) dulls things down for you and explains it bit by bit. There are hundreds and thousands of YouTube videos on 'Redstone Tutorials' but it was good to be able to read it out a book for a change rather than watch a video. The book explains what Redstone is - gives some examples of how to use it, and then goes on to show you how to create more harder contraptions - things like trapdoors, secret doors, cannons etc.

You can find the book on Amazon HERE.

So I if you haven't checked out Minecraft and are looking for a new game to play, or you want to get into gaming - then check it out! Then purchase these books as they are a godsend and will help you through Minecraft or if you can't afford it - there are millions of YouTube videos that can help you out with Minecraft - I just found it easier to check a book next to me, than switch screens and find a video to learn something.
